A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Accra with 100 slabs of compressed dried leaves and seeds suspected to be Indian hemp concealed in pillows.
The suspect, identified as Ngodrikwu Adubuzu, a Nigerian, is said to have claimed ownership of the items when the police intercepted the vehicle with the pillows.
Briefing the media in Accra yesterday, the Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, said the police received a tip off about 8 a.m. yesterday that someone was transporting the suspected narcotics concealed in pillows.

When the vehicle was searched, he said, about 20 pillows were retrieved, with each pillow having two or three slabs concealed in it.
The compressed slabs, he said, had been wrapped with paper and black polythene and fastened with celotapes.
My Yohuno said investigations to ascertain the source of the drugs were still ongoing, noting: “But we will, in the meantime, put the suspect before court.”
He said the police would take the dried leaves and seeds to the forensic laboratory to get them tested to establish whether they are narcotics.
