The Juaso Circuit Court presided over by Mr. Fredrick Tetteh, has sentenced a teacher to 18 years imprisonment for sodomizing a Junior High School (JHS) boy.
Samuel Afari, 30, under the guise of providing financial support to the orphaned victim, took advantage of him and sexually abused him.
The convict had sex with the boy on countless number of times through the anus and warned him of death should he tell anybody about that.
Afari pleaded guilty to the offence.
Police Chief Inspector Dennis Nana Duku told the court that this happened at Atiemo, a farming community in the Asante-Akim South District.
The complainant is the grandmother of the 15 year-old boy while the convict is a mathematics teacher in the very school, the victim attends.
The court heard that Afari, early this year, offered to pay for the education of the victim, who had lost his mother and oblivious of any evil motive, the boy started visiting him to help him with the house chores and farming activities.
The prosecution said then came one day, when Afari invited him to his room where he gave him a concoction to drink after which he forcefully had anal sex with him.
He gave him GHȼ15.00 and warned that the concoction he had taken would kill him should he ever tell anyone about his ordeal.
He went ahead to repeatedly sexually abuse - in his room, on the farm and even the school’s toilet.
Police Chief Inspector Nana Duku said in late November, the victim started complaining of waist, stomach and general bodily pains and was taken to the Obogu clinic for treatment but his condition kept deteriorating.
The boy gathered courage to tell the grandmother and an elder of a church about his terrible experience and a report was made to the police.
