The Reverend (Mrs) Veronica Essuman- Nelson, Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), on Saturday told the youth that education was the only key to success in life.
She therefore appealed to them to take their education serious to enable them grow up to become responsible citizens.
Rev. (Mrs) Essuman-Nelson, made the call at separate durbars organized by the chiefs and people of Komenda-Kissi, Komenda-Dominase and Abreshia to highlight the celebration of their annual yam festival.
The MCE also appealed to parents, especially mothers, to be more concerned about the education of their children by contributing in providing all that they need to facilitate their studies.
On environmental sanitation, she urged the people to help ensure good sanitation practices to avoid the outbreak of an epidemics.
Dr Joseph Annan, MP for the area and Deputy Minister of Education, reiterated the call on the people to bear with the government in its efforts to develop the country.
He asked the people to criticize the government constructively to help put the nation’s economy on a sound track.
At Komenda-Domenase, the chief, Nana Kow Bassie II, announced plans to build a modern community centre complex with a clinic and library and appealed to citizens abroad for support.
He commended those resident in the United Kingdom for providing two palanquins for the community at the cost of Ł500.00.
He also underscored the importance of education, and charged parents to make the needed sacrifices towards their children’s education.
Nana Bassie expressed concern over anti- social behaviours among the youth, such as the use of narcotics and threats of death and appealed to parents to advise their children to desist from such vices.
At Komenda-Kissi, the regent Nana Efua Badu IV, appealed to the assembly to assist the community to renovate the market.
