Gomoa West District Chief Executive, Mr. Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, has appealed to authorities of kindergartens and primary schools to make their environment child-friendly to enable new entrants to regard the place as a home to enhance their retention.

He urged heads, teachers, parents/teachers associations, school management committees and education directorates to provide such institutions with enough play materials.

Mr. Aidoo-Mensah said this when he visited some schools in the area with Mrs. Beatrice Lokko, District Director of Education, to welcome new comers to the schools as part of “My First Day at School” programme.

He said he had applied to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to take on board some schools in the district in the School Feeding Programme as currently only one school enjoys the programme.

Mrs. Lokko appealed to parents to invest in their children’s education to ensure a better future and distributed biscuits, exercise books, pencils, cups and fruit drinks to the children.

Some of the schools they visited were Abora D/A primary, Apam Methodist A. B, and C. Primary and KG Apam Salvation Army Primary KG and Dago Primary and KG.
