The Chairman of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the St Bernadette Soubirus Schools at Dansoman, Accra, Mr Albert Fynn has called on students to combine their educational pursuits with sports to enable them to remain healthy.
He noted sports and education plays very important roles in the socio-economic development of every nation and noted that without such ventures it would be very difficult for any nation to develop its human resources.
Mr Fynn who is also a Board Member of the School made the call at the end of a two-hour five kilometer Health Walk in Accra on Sunday.
About 1,500 students of the school took part in the Walk which formed part of activities marking the 30th anniversary celebrations of the school.
The Walk started from the school through to some principal streets of the Dansoman community and back to the schools premises.
Mr Fynn advised the students to desist from indulging in computer fraud and its related vices which he said had ruined the lives of many students.
Mrs Maria Aquiline Cato, Headmistress of the school advised the students to be discipline and law abiding and to take their studies seriously.
She advised parents to take active interest in the education of their children to enable them to grow to become useful citizens.
The 30th anniversary celebration which is under the theme 30 years of holistic and quality education, meeting the challenges of out time would be climaxed with a Speech and Prize-Giving Day on October 24.
