Dr Ernest K. Awanta, Dean of Students Affairs of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has appealed to stakeholders in Ghana's education to ensure that schools operated without being over-crowded with deteriorating physical facilities.
He said they should also make conscious efforts to provide sufficient and current library resources, equipment and instructional materials.
Dr Awanta said this at the 10th Anniversary ceremony of the Potential Skills Academy in Accra.
He said; "In a world of rapid development of information and communication technology, the need to use new technology to raise the effectiveness and quality of education cannot be over emphasized".
Dr. Awanta said efforts should also be made to provide schools with relevant curriculum and that teachers had the task of developing individuals to become responsible members of society.
He therefore urged teachers to be proactive and innovative so that their toils and efforts would not be in vain.
Dr Awanta told the students to be responsible and perform their house hold duties, adding that in Japan, students were very well behaved and as a result, were among the smartest students in the world.
