The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) would embark on a demonstration if the concerns of University teachers are not resolved immediately.

According to the students, their decision is based on the lackadaisical and feet-dragging attitude on the part of government in dealing with the problem.

In an interview with Citi News the Secretary for NUGS Eugene Ackom-Damptey stated that students have been badly affected by the strike as they prepare for their examination next month.

He indicated that it has frustrated the university calendar and so if things don’t get resolved, “it can also go a very long way and affect our practical experience on the field.”

According to him, they have met with University Teachers Association Ghana (UTAG), Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance but if nothing is done about it they would embark on the strike.

“From Wednesday we don’t hear anything and they still don’t come to a consensus, then I think it is our right to also stand up and say something.

That is where we would have to demonstrate to them that what they are doing is rather affecting us than benefiting us” he said.
