The Jaman South District Directorate of Education has withdrawn the services of 17 teachers for poor performance and entering the profession with fake certificates.
Mr Kingsley Abrokwa, District Director of Education told Ghana News Agency at Drobo in Brong Ahafo Region that the teachers were issued with withdrawal letters based on directives from the Teachers Education Division of Ghana Education Service.
He explained that the punitive measures were taken because of their poor performance at the Untrained Teachers Diploma in Basic Education Programme, being pursued by the University of Cape Coast to replace teachers posted to the district.
Mr Abrokwa said it is a nationwide exercise to improve quality teaching and learning in schools.
