The Ho Polytechnic is to open Satellite Campuses in Hohoe, Akatsi, Aflao and Nkwanta.

A committee to work out recommendations for consideration and approval by the Academic Board and Governing Council has been formed, Professor Emmanuel Kojo Sakyi, Rector of the Polytechnic, announced this at the matriculation of 1,319 students on Friday.

The Polytechnic will in future offer admission to applicants from Adaklu-Kodzobi as part of a policy to offer admission on concessionary basis to applicants from schools in deprived communities.

The offer to Adaklu-Kodzobi is also in honour of their forebears who generously donated land to the Polytechnic, Professor Sakyi said.

The Policy on concessionary admissions will also be extended to talented sportsmen and women who satisfy the general entry requirements and also show proof of athletic talent.

Professor Sakyi reminded the 51 percent of the 1,319 fresh students who could not make the entry grades in the three core subjects to be serious with the three months access course because that was the last chance offered by the National Accreditation Board.

He cautioned the fresh students that they risked being barred from writing the end-of-semester examinations if they skipped lectures for 14 consecutive days.

If at the end of the year you trail more than four courses or if your Cumulative Grade Point falls below 1.00 you will be shown the exit

Your major aim in coming to this Polytechnic is to pursue an academic programme and graduate with a certificate, therefore begin with that in mind today, Professor Sakyi cautioned.

That must however not be attained by stealing and cheating at examinations because it is the easiest way to dismiss you from the Polytechnic, he warned.

Professor Sakyi advised the fresh students to enjoy their academic freedom with circumspection.
