The school children who were struggling in search of light to learn on Monday January 26th, 2014, night at Faanofa Street in Kokomlemle have received solar lanterns after the story was aired on Adom FM and TV News on Tuesday.
The children were forced to leave their homes and sprawl on the floor in front of the Societe General Bank, Kokomlemle branch, to learn and do their homework because they had no lights at home.
Mel Kwesi Davis, Executive Secretary of Light a Million Lives Foundation donated four solar lamps to the children at the offices of Adom FM.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News Mr Davis explained that the donation was to help “help such children who have not been discouraged despite the power outage”.
Light a Million Lives Foundation intends to distribute solar lamps to school children and farmers in remote areas.
It also has plans to build an assembly plant in Ghana provide employment to the youth.
