Mr. Pius Kobena Asabil, Chairman of the ‘87’ year group of Swedru School of Business Association (SOSA), has stated that Ghana needed a bold and brave government, to restore the ‘Ordinary’ and ‘Advanced’ Level System of Education, to reduce waste in the educational sector.

He stated that the three-year education system for Senior High School (SHS) introduced in Ghana some years ago, was making it extremely difficult for majority of students to cope with the situation.

The Chairman stated that Ghana being a third world country, there was the need to have the kind of education system that could help to create jobs for the graduates

Mr. Asabil made these remarks when he spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) when he jointly cut the sod for the construction of a semi-detached bungalow at the cost 120,000 Ghana Cedis for the Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) at Agona Swedru.

The project is being financed by the individual members of the Association, with sponsorship from financial institutions and other corporate bodies.

Mr Asabil said the children were being rushed into the current educational system which could affect their future prospects.

He pointed out that that to produce highly qualify graduates for the country would be the greatest problem if the present educational system was not checked by policy makers and implementors.

According to the Chairman of the 87 Group, not all students could fly higher with the current three- year SHS educational system, and come out successful after completing the course.

Mr. Asabil said even though the Great Britain (United Kingdom) and USA which were well developed nations, were still running the ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level education system for their secondary education students.

He stated that it would be proper for the government to revive the old educational system to avoid putting a big burden on the students and parents.

He said this could prevent them from becoming liabilities after graduating from tertiary institutions.

The Chairman disclose that the Association was also mobilizing funds to complete classroom blocks, and also furnish the musical block to enhance the effective teaching of music in the school.

He said the Association had taken a keen interest to assist in the provision of adequate infrastructure in the school, to reduce the accommodation problem facing the tutors, to ensure effective teaching and learning.
