Nine students of the Ghana institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) have been dismissed for engaging in examination malpractices during the 2014/2015 academic year.

Twenty-two others have also been rusticated for either one or two academic year(s) for engaging in similar practices.

The names, pictures, offences and sanctions of the culprits have been posted on the notice board.

Some of the students have taken the matter to court.

A source told The Ghanaian Times that most of the offenders had with them foreign materials such as mobile phones, tissue, handkerchiefs and papers containing information relevant to the examination they were writing at the time.

“The Nine students in trying to justify their actions were rather rude and disrespectful to invigilators and disciplinary committee members and were consequently handed the dismissals.”

The sources said some of the students submitted a fully answered foreign answer booklet while others were caught with two formula sheets with answers from a colleague.

The Institute’s Registrar was unavailable for comment when The Ghanaian Times visited the campus on Friday, and the Deputy Corporate Affairs Manager also declined to speak on the issue because she considered it an internal matter.

The Deputy Rector also opted not to speak to the issue because of the court action by the students.
