Reverend Jonathan Bettey, Head of the Public Relations Unit of Ghana Education Service (GES), has said about 13,203 out of a validated figure of 13,297 teachers have so far been paid their salary arrears.
Rev Bettey, who said this in an interview with the GNA, explained that in May, an amount of GH¢53,757,024 was paid to 13,203 teachers leaving out about 94.
He said those left out had concerns on their particulars and had been queried by the Bureau of National Investigations on various grounds.
Rev Bettey said the particulars of an additional 3117 teachers have also been cleared last month and payment will be done this month.
He said “our officers are working hard with the Ministry of Finance and others so as to pay all genuinely affected teachers and staff latest by September”.
