The Inter College Network (ICON) has said a cheque government released through the GETFund as payment for Teacher trainees feeding grants and allowances had bounced according to information from their Principals.
The Government of Ghana on Wednesday 19th October, 2016 came out publicly and announced to teacher trainees that it has released an amount of Ghs 50 million as feeding grant.
According ICON it was later announced that the Government of Ghana through the GETFund released Ghs 11 million instead of the Ghs 50 million.
"Principals of various colleges on Monday, 11th December, 2016 announced to students a cheque they received indicating that the feeding grants had indeed been released.
"Two days after the announcement (13th December,2016) the principals came back and informed their students of the Banks' inability to process the cheque. The cheque is now a "bounced cheque" of which trainees are not too clear about this unfortunate incident," the release said.

INTER COLLEGE NETWORK (ICON)
Teacher trainees feeding grants and allowances.
The Government of Ghana on Wednesday 19th October, 2016 came out publicly and announced to teacher trainees that it has released an amount of Ghs 50 million as feeding grant.
Trainees bought into this and became enthused where as this money is in to reduce the burden incurred on parents and colleges as far as feeding of teacher trainees is concerned.
It was later announced that the Government of Ghana through the GETFund has released Ghs 11 million instead of the Ghs 50 million. Despite the fact that trainees weren't too happy with this political gimmicks, we accepted it in good faith.
Principals of various colleges on Monday, 11th December, 2016 announced to students a cheque they received indicating that the feeding grants had indeed been released.
Two days after the announcement (13th December,2016) the principals came back and informed their students of the Banks' inability to process the cheque. The cheque is now a "bounced cheque" of which trainees are not too clear about this unfortunate incident.
The Government of Ghana is owing the current level 100 students through to the newly recruited teachers which we think it is so worrisome, distressing and appalling.
We are therefore pleading with the Government to come to our aid. It is a humble appeal to the government to kindly settle this debt by the end of February, that's end of this semester.
We would again take this opportunity to congratulate the President- elect and again appeal to the incoming government not to take trainees for granted. You have promised to restore in full, the teacher trainees allowances which is emphatically and clearly stated in page 32 of your manifesto and so we would take you at your words.
We would plead with you to go exactly by that.
Thank you very much.

This is one of the reasons we will never forget Mahama. Somebody go tell Rex Omar for me. John Mahama we will forever remember negatively.
So is this the president some krobos are weeping for?in fact the fo.ols in Ghana are too much to contain. Ghana is like divided into two the intelligent and sensible ones at one hand and the fo.ols and idi.ots at the other. It will interest everyone to know even the smaller parties like PPP.CPP, PNC and others have intelligent and patriotic sons and daughters than this out going party called ndc,I can't think far on that. It's like Papa J has cursed his party for the disrespectful attitude towards him. Ndc will never succeed in anything if they do not add the founder of the party in decision making. He brought ndc to power in 2008 through his hard work and founded the ndc through his sweat and blood so why would a gang of people take away his own handy work while he is still alive?very ungrateful and wicked, callous people. Ndc will stay in opposition for a long time until they beg Rawlings and give back his party. He has the right to undo or do the ndc party in opposition. Ndc committee of investigators into their defeat is meaningless and ***barred word*** if even a class 1 student could see their incompetence, insults, arrogance, disrespectful and ste.aling with impunity and they couldn't find anything wrong with it but thought infrastructure was a magic for them to win election, then they've seen their smoothness level. Ghanaians dislike them and have showed by their happiness and jubilation of the public due to ndc lose. They've enjoyed their X'mas holidays with the defeat of these arrogant fo,ols. Thank God for this gargantuan and humiliated defeat, ndc will be history in Ghana that's every patriotic Ghanaian wish. This is a big Freedom for Ghana,May God destroy their juju and voodoo as he has done now for Ghana. Ameeeeen !
THE JOHN MAHAMA LIE.S, CORRUPTIO.N, DECEIP.T AND THE EVI.L SOWN IS WHAT JOHN HAHAMA SI REAPING IS HIS LAST DAYS IN OFFICE AND MORE SHAMEFUL REVELATIONS OF THE MISDEEDS OF JOHN MAHAMA IS TO FOLLOW AFTER HE LEAVES OFFICE IN JANUARY, 2017. GOOD RIDDANC.E TO BA.D JOHN MAHAMA AND NDC RUBBIS.H.
NDC under Mahama has done very well and need to be praised for issuing bounced cheques to teacher trainees. John Mahama must leave Jubilee house in peace to protect the tiny respect he still has.
ICON you doing a great job This government never respected trainee whom it has proven beyond our reasonable doubt..Thank God we have a change of gov't next yr...Lets live Mahama gov't..."***barred word*** biara bewu a orpere"
Such a government!! Shamelessly increasing NSS allowance by 60% whilst a cheque you even issued before the elections is bouncing. No evil plan of the outgoing corrupt, incompetent NDC government will stand. The battle is still the Lord's!!
Mahama is on his way out. Nana kindly look for some money for them.
So why is mahama losing the small respect left for him to save his face. Bounced cheque , animguase
