The fire burning up in the University of Education (UEW) seem not to have been quenched as some dismissed staff are set to go to court.
If you may recall after the school was reopened following a shutdown, Vice Chancellor of the school, Rev Prof Afful-Broni was asked to reinstate the dismissed lecturers.
However, it seems that has not been done.
As a result, Alexander Afenyo Markin, Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency has hinted that some of the parties involved will be going to court.
“I can state on record that by close of day, if they are not reinstated some of them will be going to court and I am going to represent them,” he stated on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokooo’, Wednesday.
The UEW has been experiencing some challenges after Prof. Afful-Broni dismissed some lecturers; a situation which sparked student protests that led to the school being shut down indefinitely.
The dismissed lecturers included local University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) President, Dr. Frimpong Kakyire Duku and the Principal of the Colleges of Languages at UEW, Prof. Ephraim Avea Nsoh.
A senior lecturer popular with the students, Dr. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong, also had his appointment terminated.
The students’ protests were backed by UTAG, which called the sackings baseless.
Subsequently, it was decided after a series of meetings that the dismissed teachers be reinstated.

What business has he got in UEW? He's gradually digging his own pity, must everything that happens in winneba revolves around him and his men? A lot of things happening in winneba, he's the sole behind it, he shouldn't forget power is a transient position and he will not be in power forever. He should stay aside and allow the council do their job .
