The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that the President is in talks with stakeholders on reopening schools soon.
He made this revelation in an Instagram live Q&A session with Ghanaians today. “The gov’t is looking at reopening schools. The President is engaging with stakeholders to know the way forward.”
According to him the government will be considering regular testing on kids when schools resume and will also have to make sure every student is equipped with face masks before reporting to school.
The Minister acknowledged that the decison and measures are a bit complicated and assured the Ghanaian populace that, “the Presidnet will update us soon on the matter.”
Ghana on Monday, March 16, 2020 closed all schools, universities and suspended public events to stop the spread of coronavirus as a string of African nations imposed tighter restrictions to stem the spread of the global pandemic.
President Nana Akufo-Addo announced in an address to the nation that the authorities were shutting schools and universities “until further notice”.
Public gatherings, including conferences, religious services, sports matches and political rallies have also been suspended.

No kidding with Coronavirus. You hide if your presidency with your children having better medical care and you want to put poor people children's on the chopping board .
Interesting. Testing kids including 6 months and co? So like every month your kid's sample will be taken for testing and the rest will be fear, anxieties and nightmares bugling your mind what the result will be? A disease that when you are affected the whole world will get to know because you have to disclose from Adam to Paul whom you have met for contact tracing? Please lets wait till September and see the trend. They can go ahead and open but me, my kids will not be there No rush.
Regular testing of who? u must be joking. You guys want to do anything possible to show normalcy just for election including risking the lives of kids. You expect my 3 year of boy to wear must all day. i must be sick paaaaaa. I will keep them home
Pls this is not in the interest of anybody. re-opening schools is a bad decision. The numbers are going up everyday and you want to re-open schools so that parents will be busy taking their children to hospitals. We should better continue with online classes even if our children should stay home for more than one year.
For your selfish interests you want to expose all parents now abi. What will happen to the gaed parents whose immune system are weak? Think twice and do not let politics blindfold you. No matter how careful we will be, these children can't be tamed for the 9 hours of stay on campus. Come on NPP, you are gradually eroding all the gains you made. Come alive and do not be pressured to take a hasty decision. Why not study the trend for another one month?
Npp is doing well but this is way out of place. Wearing a face mask for 7-8 hours for kids? Very little kids? How is this possible. In China, some kids started fainting. In France, upon all the precautions, over 70 children contracted the disease in very early days after school reopened. Where are we in a rush. Listening to the experiences of people who have survived this disease, the pain alone associated with it is not something children can handle. Let them not be exposed. This is africa, where 80% of people do their jobs, Ghana, where grandparents, aunts and younger siblings do take care of kids while parents work. This is not Europe and the Americas where kids for a must have to go to school so parents can work to pay their Bills. So what is the problem? Those owners of the schools mountain pressure on the government will never be seen in the school. Leaving the children and the teachers to their fate. Because of their selfish interests. Taking so much money yet paying little. Let the enjoy and pay their workers what they have gathered. They are too greedy. Greedy to highest level. They have exploited parents and teachers alike and in this difficult times, they don't even care when are children suffers or not. It's a shame
Why it's by force he is talking his political rights if you are a parent and you are wise, u have the rights to let's yr kid or child stay at home pls alos use Dat right if he opens it he will go with his family and the npp gov to go and learn over therw, lol 😂 me, you, them no ome will allow his ward to come out its yr power to your freedomatic right don't let them swift it away let's them open it today or tomorrow and let then go and learn how to rule a country full of cocid 19 cases and learn how to stay alive with thier English and mindsets pls this is yr right parents to decide not npp or ndc, u decide to let's yr kid go to school or stay home don't be push or force parents it's yr ward soo u knw best parent let's yr kids stay home no need to argue with this talk talk of political words pls, also how do y expect a 1yr old to be wearing a nose 🎭 and to be continually tested, do u know how it's pains to take a blood sample from a human being is you know u know parents I won't talk chawwww or much parents this is time to rise and do yr own propaganda compaign against yr right no.. Choose stay home with yr kids or let's then go and the teachers and the kids infect yr wards n bring it back to yr home 😂 stay bless parents
So finally pressure is taking over the common sense approach to curbing the spread of this deadly pandemic. I am sad but not surprised because that has always been the character of politicians: use the people against the people and do things that only win them power! They have never been after the welfare of the citizens!
Regular testing of kids, you guys are out of your minds. My child is not going to be tested for conoravirus to be panic stricken. Never! Fuulishness!
NANA ADDO AND BARWUMIA HAD ALWAYS BEEN LIARS. "WE KNOW HOW TO REVIVE THE ECONOMY, WHAT WE DON'T KNOW IS HOW TO BRING BACK LIVES". THIS IS THE STATEMENT NANA ADDO MADE WHICH RECEIVED APPLAUSE FROM WHO AND THE REST OF THE WORLD. JUST ONE MONTH AFTER, OPPOSITE IS THE CASE. IT IS ALL LIES LIES LIES. THE MAN DOESN'T BELIEVE HIS OWN WORDS. NO, THE WORDS ARE NOT HIS, HE ONLY COPIES AND PASTE SOMEONE'S QUOTATION AND COME AND READ. SOME OF SUCH ASK OURSELVES HOW DID WE GET HERE. THIS REGIME IS REALLY CLUELESS. BY THE WAY, CHILDREN ARE ALSO PRONE TO CONORAVIRUS, SO I DON'T THINK ANY WISE PARENT WILL ASK HIS CHILD TO GO TO SCHOOL AND BRING THIS VIRUS HOME.
