The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has denied claims of the government setting aside any funds or relief for private schools in the country.
Responding to whether the President has disbursed any funds for private schools in an Instagram live Q&A, he said, “No amount has been set aside for private schools. Only businesses are benefiting from the relief fund set aside by the gov’t.”
According to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ofoase Ayirebi, the money or relief set aside for businesses currently are the GHC600million for Small and Medium-sized businesses and another Ghc3billion for Large Businesses.
He noted that for any business to benefit from these funds, they have to go through the due process and fit the set criteria.
The gov’t of Ghana as part of measures to fight the COVID-19 pandemic closed down schools and other institutions and also placed a ban on all social gatherings.
