Rector of Pentecost University, Apostle Dr. Daniel Walker says the university is poised for a brighter future with the attainment of its presidential charter.

The president, Nana Akufo Addo, yesterday presented presidential charter certificates granting full autonomy to Pentecost University and the All Nations University at a ceremony at the Jubilee House.

“We give all the glory to God, and we are confident that we are going to emerge as a stronger university in the coming years,” Apostle Walker stated in an interview shortly after receiving the charter certificate.

Pentecost University, which was established by the Church of Pentecost in 2004 has grown over the years to become one of the leading universities in the country.

Last year, the university was selected as the Best Private University by the Private Universities Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG). The university also won the Best Private Communication University Award. The Rector of the university, Apostle Dr. Daniel Walker was also adjudged the Best CEO (Private Universities) at the Ghana Industry Awards 2019 and the Nursing and Midwifery Department emerged as the Best Nursing School in the country at the UMB Ghana Tertiary Awards 2019.

“Over the years, we have demonstrated that Pentecost University is the place to be; a university that combines quality academic training with sound ethical and moral training. As a Christian university, we are not only interested in training competent professionals but also nurturing them to be God fearing and morally disciplined,” he stated.

"We will immediately rebrand the university to reflect our independent status, improve the quality of our faculty, teaching and learning methodology, staff and student welfare in a more robust manner," he added.

He said the university would soon roll out new programmes and hinted that one of such programme is a degree programme in Law.

“I want to assure the public that we have grown into a very solid university, with quality infrastructure, excellent lecturers and administrative staff who work to ensure that the academic experience is very exciting and rewarding,” he stated.

He indicated that admission for the 2020/21 academic year was currently ongoing and urged interested students to visit the university’s website and social media pages for details on application procedure.

Aps. Walker also expressed gratitude to the Church of Pentecost, National Accreditation Board and the government of Ghana for supporting the university to obtain its charter.
