The Member of Parliament for Trobu Constituency, Moses Anim has said that there is the need for each and every individual to play their quota part to help in the promotion of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) since the government alone cannot.
According to him, the government is committed to ensuring that enrollment in STEM education at the tertiary level will be 60% and 40% for that of humanity since the affinity for Science, Engineering and Mathematics from childhood is not there.
Moses Anim in an interview with Peace FM News reiterated that, as part of meeting the standards of a technological world, it is important that education in information technology is intensified as the government and the Ministry of Education is looking forward to getting all pupils/students access to education most important ICT at the basic level, so there is the need for every individuals and NGOs to help the government to achieve its goals.
He added by urging the parents and the traditional authorities within the Asofan area to help take good care of the facility, especially the security aspect of it.
His call comes during the commissioning of an ultra-modern edifice ICT Laboratory and E-Library to Asofan M/A Cluster of Schools.
The Ga North Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Esther Jones Safo on her part called on other corporate institutions to come to their aid since ICT forms an integral part of the new schools curriculum and the world now is a global village to help promote education within the Municipality because they are having 35 public basic schools.
She added by expressing their heartfelt gratitude to Maxim Nyansa Foundation for such initiative and also called for more other schools within the municipality.
The Chief Executive Officer for Maxim Nyansa Foundation; Mr. Stanley Kwakye Denkyira also said that their aim for making such an effort is to bridge the gap between the public schools and the private schools.
The Headmaster of Asofan M/A Basic School 2, Mr. Edward Pabi also emphasized on their challenges and called the government, the MP, the Municipality and other philanthropists to come to their aid.
