Mr George Pentsil, Zonal Officer of the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) in-charge Western and Central Regions, on Wednesday urged storeowners to refer all uncertified foods and drugs to the Board for certification before selling them.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Takoradi, he said the sale of certified food and drugs is the best means of protecting the health of the people.
Mr. Pentsil lauded storeowners who have instituted their own quality control systems and are voluntarily not selling uncertified and expired food and drugs. He said some storeowners also called in to destroy expired and unwholesome food and drugs after which they were issued certificates.
Mr. Pentsil said this shows that the education mounted by the board had gone down well because the quantity of expired and uncertified goods on shelves were reducing and that storeowners were complying with the directives of the Board.
