Audio Attachment:Listen to some of the Health Assistants |
Health assistant workers under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) at the Tema West Constituency have threatened to embark on a strike action as a means of demanding their 7 months arrears owned them by managers of the scheme.
Speaking in an interview with Peace News to make their grievances known, some of the Health Assistants at the Tema Polyclinic in Community 2 said they were owned by the scheme and all attempts to seek reasons for the delay of payment have proved futile.
According to one of them they are a paid Gh₵120.00 every month and some even receive less than that ranging between Gh₵80.00 and Gh₵100.00 after some deductions have been made.
This according to them is contrary to an earlier agreement reached with operators of the scheme before beginning of the work.
