First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, has been recognised by her peers for her commitment to and campaign against Breast and Cervical Cancer in Ghana.
Mrs. Mahama was given the award and recognition at the just ended Forum of African First Ladies Against Breast and Cervical Cancer.
She was also singled out for the enthusiasm she has brought to the Forum and the support for the Forums Breast & Cervical Cancer campaign.
The First Lady, who has been involved in charity and philanthropic work long before her husband became President, has since January this year added support to the Ghana AIDS Commissions Heart-to-Heart campaign and Breast & Cervical Cancer awareness creation to her work with orphanages across the country.
She has been spending her time and efforts to also support brilliant but needy students and taken up a new role as an HIV & AIDS Ambassador against stigmatisation.
The Director General of the Forum for African First Ladies Against Breast and Cervical Cancer, Princess Nikki Onyeri of Nigeria praised Mrs. Mahama for the level of compassion shown towards cancer patients in the short period that she has been the First Lady of Ghana.
The forum, which attracted first ladies across Africa, was adjudged as the most attended forum since its inception seven (7) years ago. African First Ladies, Ministers of Health, African Parliamentarians, Scientists, Civil Society Organisations and HRH Infanta Cristina, Princess of Barcelona were all present.
