Although pneumonia deaths are preventable, more than a million children still die from the disease each year, according to experts in child welfare and global health.

The GAVI Alliance, the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) say pneumonia is responsible for nearly one-fifth of child deaths globally.

This Tuesday, 12 November, is World Pneumonia Day and the three organizations are highlighting simple ways to help curb these deaths.
