As part of measures to help prevent the Ebola viral disease from entering the country, the Eastern Regional Minister, Antwi Boasiako Sekyere, has directed all government facilities and sensitive public places to install hand washing facilities.
He also called for large-scale public health education, preventive measures and early reporting of all suspected cases.
He made the call at a meeting with the Regional Epidemic Management Committee to discuss and take urgent steps of disseminating information to the public on the need to prevent the Ebola scourge and other health related issues in Koforidua.
Mr Sekyere said though Ghana has not recorded any case yet, there is the need to put in place measures to prevent any possible outbreak.
He noted that hygienic and healthy practices should be observed.
He called on the Municipal and District Chief Executives as well as Directors of Health Services to embark on awareness campaign in their municipalities and districts.
