The Ghana Medical Association says Doctors will not hold Ghanaians to ransom over the Ebola pandemic which has hit West Africa.
Speaking to Radio Ghana, the President of the Association, Dr Opoku Edusei, said what health workers need is an assurance of the provision of the necessary equipment as well as measures to enable them to better handle the situation, should the disease hit the country.
He was reacting to allege calls by doctors for insurance before they treat Ebola cases should the disease strike.
Meanwhile, patronage of dog meat in Wa in the Upper West Region is going up while the consumption of bush meat is decreasing.
The development is due to the high level of education by health authorities that bush meat could contain the Ebola virus which is deadly.
A visit by Radio Ghana's correspondent to vendors of bush meat revealed that some of the sellers have stopped selling while others said patronage of bush meat has shifted to dog meat which the consumers say is safe.
One of the customers of the vendors also explained to Radio Ghana that many hunters are engaged in farming activities as this is the season for farming.
Therefore only monkeys which destroy crops are killed. He added that those who are aware of the Ebola scare bury the monkeys instead of consuming or selling them.
In a related development, the Ebola outbreak in some West African countries is not only scaring Ghanaians but has also affected the transportation business for those who ply routes to other West African countries.
