The Senior Staff Association and Health Service Workers Union of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have petitioned President Nana Akufo-Addo not to pay attention to calls on him to reconstitute a Board for the hospital.

The Senior Staff noted that the call is an attempt to stampede government to make hasty decisions and so cautioned against a reconstitution of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Board.

In a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com, the staff expressed concerns about a “letter written to the Executive Secretary to the President of the Republic by some people purported to be Concerned Action Movement, calling on His Excellency, the President to reconstitute the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Board.

The said letter is reported to have been written on 1st February, 2018.

The workers deemed this action as “highly inappropriate and an attempt to stampede government into hasty reconstitution of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Board.

“We trust government’s ability to constitute a fitting Board that will team up with management to continue the positive works we have witnessed lately under the leadership of the Acting Chief Executive, Dr. Felix Anyah”.

According to them, the Acting CEO has proven beyond imagination that he is capable to execute the task assigned him and so are satisfied with him.

“Notably amongst these are resuscitation/refurbishment of the oxygen plants which is saving the hospital thousands of cedis, the ICT and telephone systems in sensitive areas, donation of food van, motorbikes for security patrols in the hospital, two cars for staff awards to elicit the best performance and attitudes from the staff and the peaceful staff/management relationship just to mention a few. These achievements within a short period have convinced us that the Ag. CEO has the vision and the requisite experience to transform the hospital”.

The statement also read that “even though, many are of the view that Korle Bu should have had a Board in place by now, we are optimistic that government is considering giving us capable and credible individuals with the requisite experience to team up with the CEO to improve the fortunes of the hospital”.
