Government, will this year, begin the construction of 88 Hospitals in districts without such facilities, according to President Akufo-Addo.
Delivering his eighth televised address to the nation on the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus in the country on Sunday, April 26, 2020, the President said: "There are eighty-eight (88) districts in our country without district hospitals; we have six (6) new regions without regional hospitals; we do not have 5 infectious disease control centres dotted across the country, and we do not have enough testing and isolation centres for diseases like COVD-19. We must do something urgently about this. That is why Government has decided to undertake a major investment in our healthcare infrastructure, the largest in our history. We will, this year, begin constructing eighty-eight (88) hospitals in the districts without hospitals.
The breakdown is as follows:
(10) in Ashanti, nine (9) in Volta, nine (9) in Central, eight (8) in Eastern, seven (7) in Greater Accra, seven (7) in Upper East, five (5) in Northern, five (5) in Oti, five (5) in Upper West, five (5) in Bono, four (4) in Western North, four (4) in Western, three (3) in Ahafo, three (3) in Savannah, two (2) in Bono East, and two (2) in North East Regions.
Each of these facilities will be a quality, standard-design, one hundred bed hospital, with accommodation for doctors, nurses and other health workers, and the intention is to complete them within a year.
Apart from that "we have also put in place plans for the construction of six (6) new regional hospitals in the six (6) new regions, and the rehabilitation of the EffiaNkwanta Hospital, in Sekondi, which is the regional hospital of the Western Region. We are going to beef up our existing laboratories and establish new ones across every region for testing. We will establish three (3) infectious disease control centres for each of the zones of our country, i.e. Coastal, Middle Belt and Northern, with the overall objective of setting up a Ghana Centre for Disease Control. The recent, tragic CSM outbreak, with over forty (40) deaths, has reaffirmed the need for ready access to such infectious disease control centres, even though, in our time, nobody should die of the disease".

Is a lie oo Ghanaian people. this man has history of building anything. Only destroying a five year old flats housing judges to make way a church building. 88 100-bed district hospitals in 12 month. aba. magician president
1 Village 1 dam Koraa you didn't finish and you are still promising because election is around the corner. Ghana politicians. Apuuuu
Please permit me to ask a salient question, much as we appreciate Governments efforts in improving hospitals and acquiring sophisticated ambulances, nothing is being said about Doctor-Patient ratio; I believe there're Cuban Doctors still assisting in medical care; what's being done to ameliorate the situation since there're most hospitals even without Medical Superintendents. Most Doctors trained with the tax-payers money either go into private practice or seek greener pastures abroad, I rest my case, Thanks.
You NDC people on this plateform think your part has done so many things you are the waste product you colapse SNNIT When teachers went on strick to demand the Tie 3 from NDC government all NDC communicators were saying that the money is there. Now Nana came into office the teachers started demanding the TEI 3 because NDC did not pay them it was Nana who pay the money to the farnm manager for all SNNIT Contributers .Even when SNNIT check your brother failed to contribute his workers SNNIT contibution over 200 employees .Today you see that more money in the systerm so you are instigating workers to jump on the government to pay their contributn for them contribution. EVIL MAN
Where is the number of uncompleted regional and district hospitals. Some one should list them and where they are before i will believe. You talk as if NDC build all hospial in ghana and even they are the longest ruling government in the history of ghana. If they did what current government is doing ghana will be like this. Their founder sold all state own enterprise which is 365 in number created by Nkrumah and the British . I remenber when we were in Elementary school we do vacation employment when we get long vac. Alway NDC are lying ghanaina as if they doing sonething beter for ghana EVIL PART WITH EVIL MENBERS.
Ei nana addo, are you a magician? In conoravirus times you can build 88 hospitals and yet your cousin is saying the economy needs 3years to recover. Sometimes it is hard to believe how they can look into our faces and lie this much. I even heard him say none of the new regions have hospitals, so sad. He hurriedly created regions without thinking about infrastructure. Covid 19 has now exposed him so he is trying to deceive us once more.
I think for three and half years in government he was sleeping so now he is awake to say he is ready to build hospitals. His priority was cathedral, now that COVID 19 has exposed him he is ready to build more hospitals. Ghanaians have been begging him to just complete hospital projects started by the previous government but because of witchcraft he never listened. Now that he is left with six months or so in office he finds it possible to build hospitals when there are tons of projects abandoned. Wicked demon.
When all president are seriously meeting cross section of the media to answer serious question on COVID 19, this one has been caged in the Flagstaff house only engages in sweet talk. We are looking forward to eradicating the COVID 19 increased numbers but this man is here talking about building new hospitals when there are so many new hospitals which are just near completion stage and need to be finished. Listening to this speech, it was as if he was launching his 2020 campaign. Most of the stuff he said about COVID 19 were repeated lines in previous address and probably the new increased numbers. But what every one expected is new measures aimed at fighting this aggressively. He is the first African president to have lifted lockdown in 3 weeks, and is banking his hope on God who has already given him common sense to deal with the situation. He is looking forward to God coming down to solve the problem for him. Even trump is answering questions and not reading speeches.
Going to spend the scarce resources to build 88 new district and 6 regional Hospitals whilst a good number of uncompleted hospitals across the length and breadth of the country have been abandoned to the mercies of the weather. The full1sh motion is if Nana Addo completes them, Mahama will take the shine away from him. Such is the mindset of African politicians. "Brain Dead". Could waste billions of dollars unnecessarily on his opponent just to keep himself in power. God help Ghana.
Desperate President and his promises
