An Accra Circuit court presided over by Mrs. Adwoa Coleman has granted bail in the sum of 500 million old cedis with two sureties to Mrs. Zuleika Asamoah Boateng.

Mrs Asamoah Boateng has also been ordered to deposit her passport at the court until the case has been determined.

She pleaded not guilty to all three charges preferred against her, and the case is slated for hearing on the 29th of this month. Charges against Mrs. Asamoah Boateng include assault on a public officer, insulting a public officer, and forcibly taking a passport from a public officer.

After the charges had been read, the lawyer for Zuleika Asamoah Boateng, Mr Peter Okudjeto said Mrs. Asamoah Boateng was resisting unknown people taking her family's passports, and the court upheld his request. The prosecutor told the court that the BNI Officers, who stopped Mr and Mrs Asamoah Boateng, were sent by the Acting Regional Director of the BNI.

Leading Members of the opposition NPP, including former majority leader Felix Owusu Adjapong, former foreign affairs minister, Akwasi Osei Agyei, former Defence Minister, Kan Dapaah, NPP Youth Organiser, John Boadu, Frank Agyekum, MP for Bantama, Cecilia Abena Dapaah and some party supporters from Accra and Mfantsiman West were there to offer support to Mrs Asamoah Boateng. She was accompanied by her husband, Mr Asamoah Boateng and some family members.
