President John Evans Atta Mills will attend this week's 37th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of States and Governments of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Abuja, Nigeria.

A statement from the Ministry of Information on Monday signed by Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister of Information, said President Mills would leave for Abuja on Monday.

It said the session would examine the report of the President of the ECOWAS Commission on "Deepening Regional Integration in Response to the Global Economic Crisis."

The session would also receive reports from the facilitators tasked to work on the political crises in Niger and Guinea and another one from President Laurent Gbagbo on Regional Transport and Energy Infrastructure.

The statement said the 37th Ordinary Session would also elect a new Chair of ECOWAS.

President Mills will return on Wednesday, February 17.
