Incoming Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Patrick Timbilla, says he considers his new appointment as an elevation.
The former Ashanti Regional Police Commander who takes over from DCOP Rose Bio Atinga with effect from Monday, March 12th, said he considers policing in the Greater Accra region as complex and the "toughest" and will count on the support of residents in the region to be highly effective and efficient at his new appointment.
Its good, I have played Kotoko, I am coming to play Hearts and then later I will play Black Stars Because with the police, Accra region is the toughest, Ashanti is the next, so I am now coming to the number one, he told XYZ News in an interview.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Paul Tawiah Quaye, on Friday made some command changes in the Police Administration in line with what he termed "the exigencies of effective management and operational controls".
In all, 10 serving high-ranking officers were affected by the musical chairs.
Speaking on his re-posting, DCOP Timbillah dismissed suggestions that he has been asked to move out of the Ashanti Region because of his perceived political affiliations affinity towards the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
"I am thinking I am being put there because of my performance and not because of my political affiliation. I dont think I have a political affiliation. It is Ghana first and the state. I dont want to be polarised. I do my work with [a] clean heart," he said.
