This years Aboakyer festival of the chiefs and people of the Effutu Traditional Area in the Central Region has been suspended.
This is due to disagreements between the feuding chieftaincy parties in the area.
The Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ransford Moses Ninson explained that the suspension is to help avoid any violent clashes in the area during the festival.
He said after several meetings by the Municipal Security Committee and the Regional Security Committee, it was recommended that the feuding parties should select one person to step on the catch of a deer after it had been sent to the durbar grounds but the thorny issue remained unresolved hence the need to suspend it.
