The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum says a short-term load management programme has begun over the weekend and is expected to continue for the next seven days.
A statement issued by the Ministry said the temporary load-shedding exercise is due to challenges relating to the availability and treatment of fuel for the optimum operation of the Volta River Authoritys thermal plants.
The Ministry assured the public that all efforts were being made to restore normal power supply within the stipulated period and that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) was expected to announce a load management programme within the next 48 hours.
