A MASSIVE CLEAN-UP exercise has taken place at the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters in Kumasi, barely 24 hours after DCOP Kofi Boakye took over as the Regional Police Commander.

Under the watch of the police capo who is noted for his hard work and dedication to duty, all filth at the police headquarters were cleared to give the place a massive facelift.

As part of the day’s exercise, all seized vehicles and motorbikes, most of which were damaged but were being kept at the premises of the Central Police Station, were towed away to make room for parking of vehicles and to create a conducive and serene environment for the law enforcement agents to carry out their duties.

During the paper’s visit at the police headquarters in Kumasi on Friday, DCOP Kofi Boakye, surrounded by some top rank police officers, was seen moving round the headquarters to clear more filth.

Leading by example, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander was also seen making sure that the police headquarters’ image was improved significantly so as to advance the dignity of the police in the region.

Speaking with DAILY GUIDE, DCOP Kofi Boakye said his dream is to promote discipline in the police service first “and if that is achieved, crime control in the region will be easy for the police.”

DCOP Boakye, as part of controlling crime, has formed his own standby Rapid Response Troops who would work 24 hours, dealing effectively with all forms of crimes that would come to their attention.

Meanwhile, residents of Kumasi have expressed delight over the appointment of DCOP Kofi Boakye as the Ashanti Regional Police Commander.

Most residents in the city that spoke with DAILY GUIDE described DCOP Boakye as an action man and a hardworking police officer, who has passion for dealing with crime and all other illegal activities.

They, therefore, hoped that with DCOP Boakye as the Regional Police Commander, residents in the Ashanti Region would live in peace as crime-related activities would be relegated to the background.

DCOP Boakye is the immediate past Police Commander of Western Region where he worked tirelessly in just 10 months to reduce crime. He is replacing DCOP Augustine Gyening as the Ashanti Regional Commander.
