A 57-year-old yam seller, Felicia Akomaa , alias Obaatan, died instantly when portions of the wall of the Calvary Society Methodist Church at Abuakwa Maakro in the Atwimaa Nwabiagya District collapsed on her last Sunday.
The incident happened minutes after Obaatan had joined workers to help in the construction of an extension to the church after church service on Sunday.
News of Obaatans death spread like bushfire, throwing into a state of mourning Asuoyeboa and Abuakwa Maakro, two towns she plied her trade in.
Akomaa, mother of six, until her death, bought yams from the hinterland and gave them to petty traders and residents of the Asuoyeboa SSNIT Flat on credit.
Her body has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
When the Daily Graphic visited her residence yesterday, family sources said she had planned to go round for her money last Monday, a day after her death.
Meanwhile, church sources told the Daily Graphic that plans were afoot to give Obaatan a fitting burial since she died while working in the Lords vineyard.
