Police women have been encouraged to work hard to effectively maintain law and order in the country.

ACP Yaa Tiwaa Addo- Danquah, President of the Police Ladies Association (POLAS), who doubles as commandant of the Ghana Police Command And Staff College, said police women must perform their duties effectively to serve the communities where they are deployed just like their male counterparts.

“Let us always remember that what the men can do we can also do it better.

ACP Tiwaa Addo- Danquah made this known at the dinner dance organized by the chapter of the Police Ladies Association at the headquarters at the Christ the King Catholic Church Hall recently.

The dinner dance was to offer members of POLAS the opportunity to socialize and make-merry after a lengthy and tedious year.

The year 2013 was very eventful in the area of the combat of crime, protection of life and property and provision of services that pointed to a paradigm shift from traditional or proactive policing to a more proactive one, she said.

She revealed that “as women law enforcement officers, we have also contributed our quota to the provision of security throughout the length and breadth of the country and beyond.”

ACP Yaa Tiwaa Addo- Danquah said a series of in-house lectures were organized for members during which topical issues were discussed to enhance their skills.

“Let us remember that innovation and change has become part of policing, and so as women in the law enforcement, if we fail to move with the time, we will be left behind.”

She called on all not to be complacent, adding that they must sustain what they started.

“Let us eschew all negative practices which have dented our image over the years.

In attendance were senior police officers and guests from other sister security agencies.
