The lives of residents of Aboabokese who commute between the community and Kumasi are at risk as the only bridge linking the community to Kumasi is near collapse.
Half of the bridge at Aboabokese, located in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, has collapsed following a heavy downpour somewhere last year June.
A concerned citizen, Emmanuel Bruce, who spoke to The Finder, said they have reported the problem to the appropriate authorities, including the Feeder Roads office at Adiebeba, but to no avail.
He said the Feeder Roads office has inspected the bridge but nothing has been done.
Mr Bruce said what makes it more serious is that heavy vehicles continuously use the bridge.
In a related development, the Aboabokese community, with over 1,000 population, has only one borehole, resulting in residents forming long queues to fetch water.
School children are the most affected, which impacts negatively on teaching and learning.
