Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, has commended Britain for supporting Ghanas economy to improve the lives of the people.
He pledged to work closely with Britain to deepen the already good relationship between the two countries.
Dr Vanderpuije gave the commendation when the new British High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr John Benjamin, paid a courtesy call on him.
The Chief Executive said Ghanas relationship with Britain over the years cut across social, education and health, adding that, I know you will be supportive of some of the measures we have taken to address the challenges and enhance the economy.
He acknowledged some challenges facing the metropolis such as sanitation, but said government was on top of issues and that everything was being done to address them.
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly is fully committed to working with you, especially in the private sector, as well as co-operating with you in your priority areas to enhance the development of the city, he said.
Mr Benjamin lauded Ghana for maintaining her friendship with Britain and expressed the commitment to strengthen those ties for the benefit of the two countries.
