The Ashanti regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association has expressed shock at the decision by the embattled Daily Graphics , Daniel Kenu, to drop assault charges against ex-Ghana player , Baffour Gyan.
Kenu was allegedly attacked by Gyan and some machomen after he questioned his younger brother and Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan over the missing hiplife artiste, Castro. Kenu wanted the Al Ain forward to answer to rumours that he used the missing musician for rituals.
Gyan was arrested and later released on bail. He was charged with assault last week after he appeared in court.
But in what appears like a U-turn, the reporter dropped the charges , Friday, citing health and family concerns
Reacting to the development, the Ashanti regional chairman of the GJA , Listowell Yesu Bukarson, told STARR NEWS, the decision is shocking to the Association.
He never told any of us, he never discussed it, I personally heard the decision on radio while on my way back from Accra. In fact we are shocked and disappointed by the decision.
We thought we were fighting a collective battle but unfortunately we have been left disappointed and licking our fingers, he stated.
