The Founder and President of IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe took a political twist to the just ended African Cup of Nations [AFCON] which was won by Ivory Coast.
Nicknamed the “Elephant” of La Côte d'Ivoire, Franklin believes the Ivoirians victory over the Black Stars of Ghana would boost the New Patriotic Party’s chances of winning the 2016 elections.
Prior to the AFCON final in Bata, Equatorial Guinea, Franklin Cudjoe christened the match as “survival of the NPP's elephants” on his Facebook.
Haven’t denied the authenticity of the post, he noted that “If they [Ivory Coast] lose they [NPP] lose the election”.
However, Ghana's hope of annexing a fifth Africa Cup of Nations title was dashed as Ivory Coast edged the Black Stars 9-8 on penalties after the final ended 0-0 following extra time.
Ivorian goalkeeper Boubacar Barry scored the decisive goal after having saved Ghana's eleventh kick.
But right after the heartbreaking dramatic penalty shoot-out, the IMANI Boss posted “It is done! on Facebook.
“Sorry Ghana for our collective loss. Now can we go back to mending the mess jnmthe economy? Can we merge the Agriculture, Lands and Forestry ministries into one? A far more prosperous Australia is cutting cost by doing the obvious. They have also merged Foreign Affairs and Trade,” he added.
