The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Richard Opoku-Adusei on Thursday 30 April 2015 commissioned two projects at the Support Services Brigade Group Headquarters, Burma Camp.
In his remarks, Maj Gen Opoku-Adusei, who was also the Guest of Honour at the commissioning ceremony, congratulated the Brigade Commander, Brig Gen Musa Whajah for his bold step of giving the Brigade HQ a new look.
He said the benefits of the new block to the staff of the Brigade HQ could not be over-emphasised since it would create a much congenial working environment for the staff. He also commended the officers, men, women and civilian employees of the Brigade for the numerous activities they engaged in, especially the self help projects.
Maj Gen Opoku-Adusei urged the personnel of the Brigade HQ to take good care of the facilities and equipment so they could derive maximum benefits from them.
In his welcome address, Brig Gen Whajah said soon after assuming command on 16 May 2013, he decided to decongest the Orderly Room to ease the flow of work at the Brigade HQ. He thus expressed his joy and excitement for the fulfillment of his dream of giving the HQ a facelift.
He said the completion of the Administration block would allow the Brigade HQ and the Camp, work independently while the Gate arch would also beautify the HQ.
Brig Gen Whajah showed appreciation to all who helped in diverse ways for the fulfillment of his dream and also expressed gratitude to all the invited guests for gracing the occasion.
The Five-unit Administration Block and the Gate Arch were completed in 10 months; they were funded by the Brigade HQ with support from philanthropists.
COAS had earlier inspected a guard mounted in his honour by an all female contingent drawn from units under the Brigade Group on arrival at the Headquarters.
Present at the ceremony were, Brig Gen SK Adeti, General Officer Commanding, Southern Command; Brig Gen MI Tetteh, Director General, Personnel Administration; Cdre PK Faidoo, Director General, Training; Brig Gen M Alhassan, Director General, Medical Services, and Mr EM Agbesi, Managing Director, National Investment Bank.
