The Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers, Mr. Amoah Duncan, says he has every reason to describe the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) as a "Price House".
According to him, it is now clear the motive of the NPA concerning Ghanaians is to subject them to slavery with its bad service condition which the good citizens have to go through.
Speaking on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, the COPEC boss could not fathom why there is still a cause for the NPA to increase fuel price when all the dynamics to determine fuel price favor Ghanaians even in the midst of the current crude oil price which is not close $96 per barrel.
He again wondered why the NPA is giving an excuse of accumulated debt from February to May 17 after it has announced in February 26 that it has finished every debt payment owed BDC which was accrued when the world price of crude oil was $96 per barrel.
He bemoaned saying the way and manner the country is importing crude oil into the country will dwarf the cedi against the dollar as Ghana spends almost $365 million every month on crude oil by BDC.
“If we continue in this manner, will the cedi ever appreciate? NPA is now Price House, they only give us cost and if you do this at a time industries are complaining of irregular power supply and have therefore resorted generator, you again burden them with increase of fuel price; what is the motive of NPA concerning Ghanaians?”, he quizzed.
He however said that the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers will head to the Supreme Court for justice for Ghanaians as the citizens cannot be subjected to this another torture in the midst of low productivity in the country.
