Nigerian Gas (N-Gas) the main supplier of gas to the Volta River Authority (VRA) through the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) has given the VRA up to the end of February 2016 to clear its outstanding debt of $171.5 million.
Ghana paid an amount of $10 million to N-Gas after the company threatened to curtail the supply of gas by Thursday October 15, 2015 if the debt of US$103 million was not paid.
Mr Kweku Sersah Johnson, Head of Public Affairs, Minister of Power told Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview on PEACE FM, Monday that the rest of the money owed, will be paid in three tranches.
“They have reassured us that there will be no curtailment and they have given us up to February ending. Between now and February; the rest of the amount left will be cleared in three tranches” he indicated.
