The Management of the National Service Scheme says it has begun payment of allowances to the 2015/2016 national service personnel.
Personnel in the Urban Traffic Module have already been paid their September 2015 allowances.
A statement signed by the acting Executive Director, Dr. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, said that, currently management is processing allowances for service personnel in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Volta, Northern, Upper West, and Brong Ahafo regions for payment this week.
According to the statement, allowances for the remaining four regions would be processed and paid as soon as auditing of payment vouchers received from the regions is completed.
The statement regrets the delay in payment of allowances and commends national service personnel for their patience and co-operation.
It however explained that the delay was as a result of the processes of authentication and validation of service personnel details from all the districts across the country.
The statement continues that once the initial processes have been completed, subsequent payment of allowances would not experience such delays.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that funds have long been released by government for payment of personnel allowances.
