Pentecost University College [PUC] as part of the school’s 10th anniversary organized a cleanup exercise around the Sowutoum, Santa Maria and Kwashieman environs.
Students and staff carried their brooms, shovels, cutlasses, mowers and wheelbarrows and visited selected areas to rid them of filth – and they did that happily.
The Rector of the college, Rev. Dr. Peter Ohene Kyei, lauded the students for also joining the National Sanitation day programme to clean up Accra – he described the exercise as wakeup call to all Ghanaians to keep their environment clean.
“We should rather educate our people and give them the right attitude to collect and dispose refuse properly” he said – adding that – “All institutions should be strengthened to be able to ensure that the environment is kept clean”
The SRC President of the Pentecost University, Samuel Anobah also said “Sanitation is a big issue, so if community members see university students cleaning the environment, it will inspire them to do same”.
