‘I Still Feel Very Young At 60’ - Totobi Quakyi

A former Security capo, Mr. Kofi Totobi Quakyi has stated that he still feels extremely very young.

Mr. Quakyi, who served as a Former National Security Minister under the Jerry Rawlings’ administration, is also Ghana’s longest serving Information Minister.

The guitarist disclosed this during Ultimate Drive with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EIB Network, Kwabena Anokye Adisi a.k.a Bola Ray and the regular host, Foster Aggor on Friday.

He said he will be celebrating his 60th birthday with a prayer session with his family and friends.

‘Am still planning on what to do... but it will just be a family prayer time, giving glory to my maker,’ he said.

Mr. Quakyi, who for the past ten years has never spoken on radio, expressed appreciation to the Ultimate Drive team for surprising him on his birthday.

The Highlife legend who has not played the guitar in ages, promised that, ‘We will be organising a big bash one of these years for our fans. I haven’t played the guitar for a while but will do some little rehearsals and come to your studio to jam with you’.

He revealed that his all time highlife band include Rumblers, Uhuru and C.K Man.

He prayed that the country remains a peaceful one without any brutality.

‘I wish that whatever it is, this country remains peaceful and in peace we can develop, and in peace everybody will have his peace of mind to go about his/her business,’ he expressed hope.

Bola Ray, who expressed appreciation to him for his good works for the country, said, ‘We are proud of you, for your support, Ghana is celebrating you for your guidance, for your inspiring advice for Ghana’.

He later wished him the best in his endeavours.

Mr. Quakyi assumed the chairmanship of the board of directors of the National Communications Authority (NCA) on August 27, 2009.

He is a well-known Ghanaian public figure, who has over 35 years of continuous experience in national and international politics as well as managerial leadership in public service with extensive knowledge in communication, security and governance issues.
