The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahama Ayariga, says it is still a long way for Ghana to attain world standards with regard to the maintenance of its beaches.
Ghana's beaches are now at the mercy of sand winning, open defecation and dumping ground for plastic waste.
He stated this in a speech read on his behalf in Accra at a National Stakeholders Conference on beach restoration and preservation.
Mr Ayariga said since government alone cannot shoulder the burden of protecting the environment, there is the need for all Ghanaians to take keen interest in activities aimed at keeping beaches clean.
