Ghana and the United States of America (USA) will launch a joint anti-terror tactical operation in the next few days.

Dubbed “Epic Guardian,” the exercise will take place primarily on Ghanaian military premises and involve personnel from the Ghana police counter-terror unit (CTU) and the Ghana Armed Forces together with their counterparts from the United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM) and Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA).

The training will involve personnel reacting to a simulated crisis and will cover a broad range of topics, including theatre strategic planning, logistics, intelligence and strategic communications.

Addressing a section of the press in Accra, US Ambassador, Robert Jackson, underscored the need for both countries to work more closely in tackling threats of terror.

Epic Guardian program is expected to sharpen Ghana’s terror alertness, intelligence gathering and analysis skills, crisis planning and response among others for greater security and stability in Ghana and the sub region.

Ghana has previously hosted many joint and multilateral exercises, including Western Accord 13 and Obangame Express 2015.

2016 flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has commended President John Dramani Mahama for honouring the late J.B Danquah-Adu with a state burial.

“I would like to use this medium to thank President John Dramani Mahama for honouring our brother this way. We thank him so much because JB [as he was affectionately called] deserved it, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo said in the local Akan dialect.

He made this statement while addressing mourners at the funeral of the late Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, Saturday, April 16, 2016.

The former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North constituency was tragically murdered at his residence at Shiashie on February 9, 2016.

One person arrested in connection with his murder, Daniel Asiedu, is standing trial for murder.

Three-day final funeral rites for the late MP began on Friday, April 15 as his body was laid in state at the Forecourt of the State House.

His family, friends, colleague legislators, and almost all the political bigwigs in the country gathered at the venue to bid him farewell.

The body was transferred to Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern region where he hails from.

At Old-Tafo on Saturday, Nana Akufo-Addo speaking in Akan described the slain MP as a very hardworking, kind hearted and friendly man.

He said he has personally lost a treasure” as he planned to include him in his government if he wins this year’s elections.

He sent out his condolences to the wife, children, siblings and other family members of the late legislator.

One of the giants of the party, Alan Kyerematen, said the tributes that were read at the funeral of the late J.B Danquah-Adu showed that the country has lost a great person.

Former Defence Minister, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, called on all politicians and Ghanaians generally to emulate the late MP’s values.
