In a bid to help reduce the negative effects of traffic congestion on the public, all the thirteen Metropolitan,
Municipal and District Assemblies in the Greater Accra region have jointly initiated the Rapid Bus Transport
(RBT) service under the management of the Greater Accra Passenger Transport Executive ( GAPTE).
A total of 245 buses will be used for the RBT service in the region.
Communication and Marketing Manager for GAPTE Mr Roland Bruce made this known to Peace fm at the Cities Alliance Global Workshop held in Accra.
He said GAPTE is going to run the RBT service in collaboration with the various transport unions such as GPRTU, PROTOA and the Co-operative Drivers Union.
Mr Torbjorn Glad Consultant to GAPTE said big cities in the world like Accra need reliable transport services to effectively meet the transport needs of the people and to promote economic activities in the cities hence the introduction of the RBT service to help meet such goal.
