Monitoring and Evaluation Minister-designate Dr Anthony Akoto Osei has said if approved by the Appointments Committee of parliament, he will ensure that various sectors of government work up to perfection to ensure that results are delivered to the Ghanaian people.

Speaking during his vetting on Monday January 30, he said: “The Chief of Staff is going to handle the presidency and I am going to make sure government machinery works in an efficient, effective and timely fashion. Government machinery should work, we want results because we said change has come.

“Each sector ministry is going to come up with a set of performance indicators in their sectors that cabinet will have to approve. If the Finance Minister said that we were going to raise 17.5 per cent of GDP as revenue for the year 2017, that is the indicator and we will agree that every quarter he will come and report on how far he is reaching that goal.

“Assuming that after the first quarter he has managed to collect only five per cent, then we will sit down and figure out what is happening, because by the end of the year we expect 17.5 per cent and if at the end of the first quarter you have five per cent, then there is a problem.”
