As part of moves to tackle graduate unemployment and to encourage youth in Agriculture, His Excellency the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in collaboration with CIEDOM - HOG International and the University of Cape Coast School of Agriculture, will soon launch an entertainment cum education project dubbed: ‘the Ultimate Farmer Reality Show’.

The maiden edition of the show will be filmed in Ghana in a television reality show to display the interesting, exciting and profitable side of Agribusiness.

The subsequent seasons would be extended to other African countries. The show pits teams of 9 Agriculture college graduates plus one street smart group (each team compromising of 5 members) against each other to find out who would be the ultimate farming team.

CIEDOM -HOG international with the help of Partners and Donors seeks to pump millions of dollars into the ultimate farmer reality show project, to offer requisite training and jobs in Agribusiness to millions of unemployed youth in Africa.

The move, according to organizers of the show, is one of the defined solutions to the 'one district one Factory' policy of the government, and have initiated talks with policy makers, Partners and other donors to launch the project soon.

The prime motive of the program is to whip the interest of the African youth into farming and its related Agribusiness in an “edutainment way to reduce food insecurity”, Director of communications and media relations of CIEDOM HOG Ghana, Mr. Dwomoh - Doyen Benjamin told this paper.

According to him, “we are currently in the process of extending franchise of the Ultimate Farmer Reality Show to a Nigerian entity that is capable of its accomplishment. The team is also in partnership discussions with the leaders of NUGS and AASU for ultimate farmer Ghana and Africa respectively. We are calling on individuals, government institutions, Students, Regional groups, the Media, Organized Private Sectors and all stakeholders of Agribusiness to collectively support The Ultimate Farmer Reality Show to eradicate poverty from Africa. Over 2000 graduates of Agriculture and related disciplines who pass out our tertiary institutions annually with skills and knowledge in food production do not end up in Agribusiness, largely due to lack of access to material and monetary resources”.

Mr. Dwomoh further explained in the interview that “since we conceived the idea a few years ago, the Ultimate farmer reality show has received encouragement and special input from well-meaning individuals to fine tune the idea to a world class business module. Notable among personalities who have provided some input (ideas and other resources) into the project include: His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Vice president of Ghana, Prof. L. K Sam Amoah, Provost College of Agriculture and Natural Science UCC, Prof Ofosu Anim, Dean, School of Agriculture, University of Ghana, Mr. Samuel Ofori, Principal Research Assistant, School of Agriculture, UCC. Dr. Kwesi Opoku-Debrah, International agriculture and business consultant, Dr Cephas Narh, adjunct lecturer, central University, Edward Agyekum Kuffour, son of the former president and a commercial farmer, Herman Chinery-Hesse of softtribe, and a host of renowned broadcasters, business men, companies and  institutions”.

With this initiative and support from the vice president, he continued, we anticipate making agriculture very attractive to the youth, adding that “…in our meeting with him last year even before he became vice president, he said Agriculture was the only sector of the economy that you will have something tangible to show after your tenure in office, he believes we cannot outrun the west in technology and manufacturing but we can take advantage of our good lands and lead the world in agriculture, we are already doing well in cocoa and can do better in other products”.

Dr. Kwesi Opoku Debrah, an international Agriculture consultant, on his part also explained that "Having studied the full concept and plans behind the ultimate farmer reality show, I am fully convinced that the ultimate farmer reality show is the singular module that will create unlimited employment for the youth in Africa whiles ensuring food security for the whole continent, for this reason, I left the united States to come down and support this noble course of the CIEDOM HOG Organization."
